Welcome!

Welcome and greetings to everyone!
I will be chronicling what we do in class here so keep it bookmarked! For assessment details please check our PowerTeacher site regarding the assignment in question. There will be many artworks posted here over this school year and I hope you all see the great potential my students possess. I'm so proud of their efforts thus far! I hope you enjoy their work as much as we do.

Course Overview
Seventh Grade Art is a semester course focusing on refining art skills learned in previous grades. The course emphasizes the state standards as well as higher order thinking skills. Students are introduced to a broad range of media including drawing, graphics, collage, technology (when available), painting, printmaking, textiles, ceramics, and sculpture.  Students are encouraged to begin exploring their own style and the media that could be their specialty area. Students will explore key ideas about art, view works from art history, create their own work, and will learn to critique their own artwork as well as the work of other artists.

We started the year off with a little bookmaking. Artists often create their own books, for functional purposes and as works of art. Students created their own sketchbooks by marbelizing the covers with liquid watercolor and shaving cream. Students hand bound their work and the results were very good, as you can see.  Please click on the sketchbooks to see an enlarged picture! :)

Congrats to all of you- your sketchbooks look beautiful!
